Broken

Last Thursday something I never thought would happen to us did... I recieved a call from our family friend Amy that Riley had an accident during her gymnastics class and hurt her arm. I thought that maybe it would be sprain... I was so off. I met Amy at Chic Fil A and traded children(Natalie went with her to soccer practice and I picked up the wounded child). When I saw her she cried a little bit and then stopped. Her arm was splinted with a People Magazine, ice packs, and sports tape. I asked if her is she heard a snap... no. "Can you move your fingers?Yes." I opened the splint and her arm was bowed. It was so gross. My mom looked at her and said, "Riley... I'm going to be up front with you. Your arm is broken." She stopped crying and said ok lets go to the hospital.

Here she is in triage waiting to be seen....

The arm going into x ray....

Here is the x ray they first showed me... I thought it was not that bad...

Then they showed me this one....

It took them 3 hours to set her arm... with a temporary cast and spacers we are getting ready to go back to the pediatric orthopedic Dr. in the morning. Will let you know what color she picks.

Latest Natalie Art

Here is a picture Natalie drew of our family. I find it interesting that Natalie drew herself all in gold. Is she trying to tell us something?

Its Raining its pouring

So, I know I have not posted in forever, but it appears that as the rain continues to pour down I will be having some time on my hands to post some things that have been happening in our lives. The world has been continuously swirling around us and I just don't know what else to say. I will sit down the weekend for sure and tell some of our amazing adventures. I might even update the look of the page. Hmm that's a unique thought.

Why Guilt Does Not Work With Our Children

Tim has been trying to use an age old guilt trip with our children when they complain about what we are having for dinner. I told him that guilt won't work on our kids. He insisted it would, until tonight.

Tim: Riley, don't complain. There are starving children in Africa.
Riley: I don't see why they are. They can hunt zebra. As a matter of fact there are a whole lot of animals there that they can eat, so they should not be starving.
Tim: I'm not even going to argue with you.

I busted out laughing and walked in the other room.

My Polar Opposite Children

Riley's Report Card: all E's and A+ with one S...

Riley: That was not a good report card. I should have all Es and A+s. I am going to work harder.

Natalie's Report Card: All S's... no unsatisfactory marks, no Es. And a note stating that she prefers talking with her friends over listening during circle time.

Natalie: Do we have to talk about this? Ugh.
Me: Natalie, don't you want to make Es?
Natalie: No
Me: Do you just want to do enough so Daddy and I won't bug you about school?
Natalie: Yes
Tim: I'm screwed.

Natalie's Latest Art Project

Natalie drew this picture of her sister Riley being chased by a snake. Notice the large popped eyes on Riley.
